Forums: what to expect

Our Forums give entrepreneurs a confidential place to bring real business questions, compare experiences and work through opportunities and challenges with peers. If you are considering joining Entrepreneurs' Network Cape Town, here is how the experience can support your next practical step.

A focused space for honest business conversations

We organise monthly Forum discussions around the needs of entrepreneurs. Rather than listening to a one-way presentation, you have space to describe what is happening in your business, hear how others have approached similar situations and contribute your own experience.

Our Forums are confidential discussions. That creates room for useful, direct conversation about the decisions and pressures that come with building a business. We bring together entrepreneurs from different backgrounds, including township entrepreneurs, startup entrepreneurs, people wanting to scale, small and medium-size businesses, and entrepreneurs managing a side hustle alongside full-time employment.

Peer mentorship is practical and shared

Peer mentorship sits at the centre of our Forum model. Each Forum has a mentor, while the learning does not rest with one person. Members contribute different experiences, questions and perspectives, so the conversation can move beyond general advice and towards the issue in front of you.

You may arrive with a challenge around growth, relationships, market access or a difficult decision. You can also arrive with an idea or lesson that may help someone else. The value comes from making space for both sides of that exchange.

How to prepare for a Forum conversation

You do not need a polished presentation to take part. A simple, specific question will usually give the group something useful to work with. Before a discussion, it can help to consider:

  • What decision or challenge needs your attention now?
  • What have you already tried?
  • What kind of experience or perspective would help you think more clearly?
  • What useful lesson can you share from your own business?

Coming prepared in this way helps keep the conversation grounded. It also makes it easier for peers to respond with relevant examples rather than broad suggestions.

Learning continues beyond the monthly meeting

A Forum is one part of our wider network. We also create opportunities for members to market their businesses to one another, refer contacts and leads, and showcase products and services through our online platform. Networking events bring entrepreneurs from different industries together for keynote speakers, panel discussions and conversation. Through partners, our training sessions respond to the needs of entrepreneurs and focus on building knowledge and skills.

These activities give you more ways to meet people, learn from experience and find opportunities to collaborate. Non-members can attend our events, while joining the network begins with an application.
